Dr Sisengnam is a leading national and international expert in developmental applied research, including poverty, income distribution, gender discrimination, labor migration, SME performance, efficiency and productivity, and environmental issues on effective use and protection of natural resources and disaster risk management. He has undertaken work for the World Bank and other international organizations in these areas.
As an active think tank member for the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Laos PDR, Dr. Sisengnam has an innovative approach to understanding the needs of developing countries with a low or middle level of income per capita, which are in the process of achieving economic and social development.
His approach addresses these emerging economies’ challenges, including poverty, inequality, lack of infrastructure, environmental degradation, and political instability. Developing countries often depend on external assistance from developed countries or international organizations to meet their development goals. Dr Sisengnam identifies opportunities for such countries to leverage their human and natural resources, diversify their economies, and integrate into the global market.
Dr Sisengnam holds a PhD in International Development and Policy Studies from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, and contributes as an academic researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Management, National University of Laos. .
